The Mortulian Horde Empty The Mortulian Horde

Post  Allanon Creel Sun Aug 22, 2010 5:27 pm

The Mortulian Horde started out as 5 clans battling eachother for dominince when the 2 top clans banned together to make a monarchy and then subjugated the other tribes, forming what would become Mortulia's future borders. The Monarchs made their castle inbetween the different villages at a highpoint so they could easily control rioting and attacks, though very few did happen. The tribes did not have that much of a culture so the country basically made one of their own that botht the king and his people approved. The king, who's name was lost to the anals of history, was a very ruthless man and when he saw he had seemingly weak neighbours to the north he attacked them and came back a hero on many trips. But years of plundering the large miners they formed shield walls that he could not break, no matter how many men he sent. This king decided it was not he, but the gods that were interfearing so he convinced his people it was so. It was on that day the Mortulians had fallen from grace, where they would never rise to favour.
The gods had taught some the act of pure resurection to allow the great heros or heroines another chance at life but the mortulians found a way to twist the resurection process to add a random soul to a corpse, thus stripping it of its free will and making it a slave in mockery of what they had been givin. To add to their hatred of the great father he casted down a heat so unbearable that they were not able to abide sunlight, but eventually they started to become acustomed to the dark, which was enjoyfully spiteful to the Meirn. When they found out that the sun would soon belong to the desert peoples once more if their enemies fortress stood they began to attack fullheartedly, though all that happened was a millenium long stalemate.
When Sul-Torak gained power he was rejoiced to find such an easy target to twist to his thinking, making the Mortulians believe that worship of his "Dread Father" would destroy the gods and all their followers aswell. Though the truth of the matter was he was an insane necromancer who was as powerful as he was delusional, making the schooling system teach young boys and girls the magnificence of "The Dread Father".
As a child in this dark region children are raised to be warriors, yet the few who cannot join for specific reasons become average citizens, who when then they die will be resurected as minions. The life of a soldier is one of great satisfaction knowing that when they fall their souls shall not be desecrated and are reborn in the bodies of newborns to have a second chance to die and pass to "The Father Dread" if they are worthy in second life. The women are taught from a young age that to have a son who passes to "The great Father" is the greatest honour and so live their lives acordingly. Choosing only the best of men, which also makes for higher aspiring soldiers.
The boys are raised by their parents and mentors to want to join the army at the age of 8, where for the next 8 years they go through painful and difficult experiences with the toughest of drill-masters. Yet nearly none wish to leave due to the magic cast upon them all throughout their little years of childhood to aspire to be the best soldiers ever. For the male citizens however, they are told of how solid years of doing anything possible to benefit their men in arms would gain them just as high status. Those who fail even this... are given to the Wraith People, where they are never seen or heard from again.

Good work Calvin, but can you please reformat it so that it is in a group of seperate paragraphs' spaced from one another. It would make it easier to read.
